Apart from in France, it’s always been a racing certainty that the bigger the French car the poorer its sales. And it looks as if the French are finally starting to wake up to this fact and are looking at rationalising their upper-range cars to consolodate on one new model. Well, at least Peugeot are.

Jaguar XKR GT3: the lowdown
This is the Jaguar XKR GT3, a 550bhp, race-fettled XK which will campaign in the 2007 FIA GT3 series. But the big news is that its uprated V8 engine is bound for a roadgoing XKR, to propel Jaguar up the power league and into the realm of Merc's 510bhp SL55 AMG and BMW's 500bhp M6. Apex Motorsport will design, develop and campaign the XKR GT3, shown here in an official artist's impression.
Peugeot's all-new 208, which will replace the 207 in the Spring of next year, is an important car for the French firm. With a more dynamic design than its forebear, the new 208 is both lighter and smaller than its predecessor, aiming to embody ‘the principles of agility and efficiency', Peugeot claims. In the video to the left head of design Gilles Vidal and designers Pierre Authier, Anna Costamagna and Sylvain Henry talk us through some of the key design elements of the new B-segment car.
